Based on the results of the Checkmate 649 trial, nivolumab plus chemotherapy as a first-line palliative treatment for HER2-negative adenocarcinoma with PD-L1 CPS ≥ 5 has been approved for clinical use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
