Still, the TET-1 role is not well studied in the case of NAFLD, but TET-1 plays a major role in the PPARα expression in the methylated PPARα promoter region and it has great involvement in the expression of enzymes potently in the regulation of fatty acid β-oxidation, hence inhibiting triglyceride deposition in the liver, as lack of TET-1 can cause triglyceride accumulation in the liver as well as in adipocytes [16]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARA and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
