Indeed, several autoinflammatory diseases, such as cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS) and familial Mediterranean fevers (FMF), and autoimmunity diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and multiple sclerosis (MS), are associated with overproduction and secretion of IL-1 (Garlanda et al., 2013).
