Among children with severe pneumonia, the performance of sTREM-1 was also significantly better than that of PCT (AUROC = 0.632, 95% CI 0.547 to 0.716, P < 0.001) and CRP (AUROC = 0.552, 95% CI 0.461 to 0.644, P < 0.001) in identifying children at risk of 48-hour mortality (Fig 3B and S3 Table). Here, CRP is linked to susceptibility to pneumonia measurement.
