Our study reported that fenofibrate, a PPARα activator, decreases inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the TLR/NF-κB, signaling a pathway in uveitis, an ocular presentation of the systemic inflammatory disease and that PPARα is essential for this anti-inflammatory effect.24 Activation of PPARα by fenofibrate reduced TNF-α production and NF-κB nuclear transaction. The gene discussed is PPARA; the disease is uveitis.
