SIRT3 and cardiac hypertrophy: SIRT3 has been reported to preserve mitochondrial function during ageing through the deacetylation of cyclophilin D (CypD) on lysine 166, and SIRT3-deficient mice showed accelerated signs of cardiac ageing such as cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis at a young age and hypersensitivity to heart stress (Hafner et al., 2010).
