The HIF-1α inhibitor BAY 87-2243 upregulated the expression of IDH3α in BJ1 fibroblasts in co-culture with ADT carcinoma cells (Figure 9B), suggesting us that high HIF-1α expression keeps IDH3α expression at low levels to maintain the glycolytic phenotype in co-cultured fibroblasts.
