Our previous studies have found that XYS can improve depression-like behavior induced by chronic restraint stress (CRS) or chronic unpredictable mild stress, and its mechanism may include reducing the neuroinflammatory response (reduce IL-6, IL-1, NF-κB, TNF-α) (Zhu et al., 2021) and decreasing the level of glutamic acid (Glu) in the rat hippocampus (Zhou et al., 2021).
