Interestingly, aldosterone production may occur from multiple sources: multiple aldosteronomas in the same adrenal gland, dominant non-producing adenoma with satellite CYP11B2 positive non-dominant nodules, and clusters of autonomous aldosterone-producing cells (APCCs) without apparent neoplasia (55, 81, 88, 106, 107). The gene discussed is CYP11B2; the disease is neoplasm.
