Lin et al. (2019) found that RAB3IP expression was upregulated in a PD mouse model, and downregulated RAB3IP expression suppressed autophagy and cell apoptosis. They further suggested that HOTAIR knockdown inhibited RAB3IP expression by acting as a ceRNA for miR-126-5p (Lin et al., 2019). Furthermore, HOTAIR downregulation also potentially inhibited the autophagy of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra compacta. Mechanistically, HOTAIR can affect the expression of neuronal pentraxin II by sponging miR-221-3p (Lang et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene HOTAIR and Parkinson disease.
