The association between human papillomavirus (HPV) and some cancers, including cervical, head and neck, vulvar, anorectal, and penile squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), is well characterized by the canonical mechanism involving the HPV oncogenes E6 and E7 and p53 and RB1 proteins (de Martel et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
