Although we found that both obesity and aging promoted a glycolytic phenotype, the specific upregulation of glycogenic enzymes (GYS, PYGL, and GBE1), which are known to be expressed in adipocytes (Ceperuelo‐Mallafré et al., 2016), was evident in the groups of elderly subjects (LE and OE) (Figure 2a). This evidence concerns the gene PYGL and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
