Indeed, exposure of MM cells to high extracellular Ca2+ concentrations, which mimics the hypercalcemic condition of BM milieu, promotes TRPV2 expression and induces the release of osteoclastogenic factors including TNFα, IL-1β, and RANKL via activation of the Ca2+-calcineurin-NFATc3 pathway.
