Previous work by Albright and Gonzalez-Scarano implicated leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S) in the HIV infection of human glial cells and our lab found leukotriene C4 synthase (LTC4S), 5-LOX and cysteinyl LT receptor 1 (Cysltr1) to be differentially regulated in the brains of HIV glycoprotein 120 (HIVgp120) expressing transgenic mice (HIVgp120tg), which is an animal model for NeuroHIV [37,38]. This evidence concerns the gene LTC4S and HIV infectious disease.
