Concerning Treg cells, which are characterized by the transcription factor forkhead box P3 (FoxP3) [15], we previously showed that FoxP3+ Treg infiltration increased during HNSCC progression (from dysplasia to carcinoma) and that tumors with high Treg infiltration were associated with a longer RFS and OS [9,16]. The gene discussed is FOXP3; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
