IL5 and viral encephalitis: We determined that at 4 d.p.i., CC027 mice (Group 1) produced high levels of cytokines and chemokines (IL-5, IL-12[p40] and RANTES) known for the cellular maintenance of eosinophils [59], chemoattraction of macrophages, and stimulation of dendritic cells [60] and other inflammatory cells [61], potentially contributing to viral encephalitis [62,63].
