Multivariate regression analysis revealed an association between the level of IL-8 expression and treatment outcome, namely, an increase in the number of fatal outcomes in subgroups of HIV/TB-patients with high compared to low IL-8 levels (131.9 pg/ml (75 ÷ 145) vs 24.9 pg/ml (2 ÷ 65), p < 0.01, respectively; OR = 4.1 (95% CI 2.68–12.62, p = 0.003). Here, CXCL8 is linked to tuberculosis.
