Comparing the expression of immune pathways at D0 in vaccinated lambs and non-vaccinated controls indicated that IL-6, Th1, PPAR, and interferon signalling pathways elicited by the vaccine were instrumental in reducing parasite numbers at post-mortem (D49), while higher activation of IL-17A, IL-9, CCR3, and TGF-β signalling pathways in vaccinated lambs prior to infection predicted lower egg shedding. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is infection.
