With respect to the association of HDL and ApoA1 with the risk of a specific cancer type, analyses from the Women's Health Study identified an inverse association with colorectal and lung cancer,20 while a large‐scale population‐based study involving more than 10 000 individuals demonstrated that the associations were relatively less in GI and respiratory cancers compared to hematological and neurologic cancers.21 This evidence concerns the gene APOA1 and lung cancer.
