IRF2 and cancer: As shown in Supplementary Figure 6, miRNAs may regulate gene mRNA levels by targeting TP63, CASP3, CASP6, CASP8, and CHMP7. In particular, IRF2 could be down-regulated by more miRNAs, including hsa-miR-133b, hsa-miR-498, hsa-miR-495-3p, hsa-miR-496, hsa-miR-3163, etc. In contrast, hsa-miR-383-5p and hsa-miR-183-5p could negatively regulate the expression of IRF1. These results suggest that gene expression may be regulated by miRNAs and may influence cancer progression.
