In the quartile analyses, compared to those in the highest quartile, participants in the lowest level of α-Klotho were significantly associated with CHF [odds ratio (OR) = 1.46, 95% CI: 1.09–1.97] and MI (1.33, 1.02–1.74), which was not the case for CHD (1.12, 0.91–1.38) or stroke (0.96, 0.73–1.25). The gene discussed is KL; the disease is congestive heart failure.
