Elevated FOXM1 expression was strongly associated with increased severity of clinical parameters, such as increased abundance of plasma cells in bone marrow and peripheral blood, heightened tumor cell aneuploidy, increased serum levels of β2-microglobulin, lactate dehydrogenase and calcium and, last but not least, decreased amounts of hemoglobin, the hallmark of anemia (Fig. 1b, Fig. S3). The gene discussed is HLA-G; the disease is anemia.
