Although several approaches that mitigate MeCP2 deficiency in mice have been found to improve their social behavior—e.g., SUMOylation of MeCP217, allosteric modulation of mGlu718, or inhibition of pro-inflammatory P2X7 receptors19—to our knowledge there have been few studies that looked at mPFC function to understand social deficits in Rett syndrome. Here, MECP2 is linked to Rett syndrome.
