EEF2 and myeloid sarcoma: There were only two proteins differentially expressed between MS patients and HCs in both the unstimulated and stimulated samples, i.e. diphthine:ammonia ligase (also called diphthamide synthetase) encoded by DPH6 and enhancer of polycomb homolog 1 encoded by EPC1. Diphthamide synthetase catalyzes the conversion of histidine to diphthamide for regulation of the translation factor EEF2 [33], which controls neurological processes [34], but with hitherto no known role in autoimmunity.
