A study by Sukumar et al. [30] in women aged 25–71 years reported that obese women had lower values of 25(OH)-vitamin D and higher values of PTH and that the volumetric trabecular BMD was increased, but due to the action of hyperparathyroidism the volumetric cortical BMD was decreased, but without compromising bone geometry and strength. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and hyperparathyroidism.
