Other studies on ADAR gRNA have shown restoration of ornithine transcarbamylase function (up to 34% of edited RNA and ≤2.5–5.0% protein restoration) in the liver of ornithine transcarbamylase–deficient spfash mice (Katrekar et al., 2019) and successful editing of the mutant RNA of the PINK gene (up to 65%) in cultured HEK293T cells; the loss of the functional protein product of this gene is associated with the development of the monogenetic type of Parkinson’s disease (Wettengel et al., 2017).
