Indeed, the ST6GAL1 enzyme identified by us earlier within the glycosylation enzyme network linked to the C. albicans-stimulated PRR signalling (Figure 3C) and most consistently upregulated in AD skin and keratinocyte cultures by IL-4/IL-13 (Figure 4) was an immediate match to the glycosylation pattern observed, as it catalyses the reaction of the addition of sialic acid via an α2-6 linkage (Figure S6A). This evidence concerns the gene ST6GAL1 and Alzheimer disease.
