Inducing a long-lasting stem cell-like memory CD8+ T cell is not only for protecting human from an infection but also could be a novel target to inducing long-term memory, as yellow fever vaccination evidence shows rapid detection of YF-specific CD8+ T cells, but frequency of effector cells decreasing with time while YF-specific CD8+ TSCM maintained for more than 25 years and was capable of self-renewal ex vivo. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is viral infectious disease.
