People with TLR2 genetic polymorphisms were more susceptible to pulmonary tuberculosis (67), whereas TLR4, TLR7, and TLR8 polymorphisms were more susceptible and severe to TB in Asians, particularly Indians (68), implying that blocking phagosome-lysosome fusion increased phagocytosis in addition to a weak immune response (69). The gene discussed is TLR2; the disease is tuberculosis.
