Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) and B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) play important roles in the anti-apoptotic effect in the Bcl-2 family, and Zhang et al. [30] found that puerarin could regulate the activity of Bax and Bcl-2 and inhibit apoptosis in ovarian tissue in a mouse model of POF and thus restore ovarian function. This evidence concerns the gene BAX and premature menopause.
