Furthermore, we considered the link between ALYREF and NEAT1 as a potential interaction pair for a more comprehensive characterization since the short isoform of NEAT1 seems to play an important role in breast carcinogenesis [31] based on the following points: (i) NEAT1 is highly upregulated in breast cancer tissue of patients when compared to healthy surrounding tissue and is correlated with a higher TNM stage, increased occurrence of lymph node and distant metastases and a worse overall survival [38].
