The focus of this study was to identify markers of metabolic responses to an OGTT, and the chosen approach included a hierarchical cluster analysis considering glucose concentrations measured throughout the test, resulting in the identification of two groups of volunteers, named clusters A and B. As seen in Figure 1, cluster A displayed higher fasting and postprandial plasma glucose levels and an exaggerated insulin response, indicating a certain state of insulin resistance, also confirmed by the HOMA-IR values that were 60% higher than those of individuals in cluster B (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene INS and Insulin resistance.
