Since the majority of studies which have documented a protective role for dietary NEAC against obesity [10] and other health outcomes such as MetS [60], cancers [13] and T2D [12], it is not surprising that high intakes of NEAC neutralize detrimental effects of greater genetic predisposition to cardio-metabolic risk factors in FADS2 minor allele carriers that this means these individuals are more likely to respond to high intakes of dietary antioxidants. Here, FADS2 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
