For the neuropathic processes, synaptic transmission related genes were validated, including decreased gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor subunit alpha2 (GABRA2), increased neurotensin (NTS) and oxytocin receptor (OXTR), in the myometrium of women with adenomyosis versus without (P = 0.020, P = 0.009 and P = 0.022, respectively) (FIGURE 5E). This evidence concerns the gene GABRA2 and adenomyosis.
