ASPG and acute lymphoblastic leukemia: In large cohorts of pediatric and AYA ALL patients from high-income countries, discontinuation of asparaginase at any point during therapy was associated with a 5%-10% increase in absolute risk of relapse.17,18 The increased risk of relapse may be due to other factors correlated with discontinuation of asparaginase, but certainly the ability to implement complete, maximum-intensity courses of ALL therapy is critically important for survival of patients with ALL.
