Hypertension, hand-foot syndrome, and proteinuria were the most common grade 3 or higher nonhematological AEs with treatment with apatinib, and their occurrence has been reported to be associated with better antitumor efficacy in patients with advanced solid tumors who are receiving VEGF TKIs.16,17,18 However, compared with those in previous studies,9,15 the lower incidences of any-grade hypertension (17.6%), hand-foot syndrome (25.7%), and proteinuria (14.9%) in the present trial might be attributed to the low-dose administration of apatinib.
