TP53 and cancer: Allicin has been found to decrease the levels of cytoplasmic P53, Bcl-2, and the PI3K/mTOR signaling pathway and to increase the expression of the AMPK/TSC2 and Beclin-1 signaling pathways in HepG2 cells, which can also induce the degradation of mitochondria in cancer cells, therefore, allicin promote the autophagy of cancer cells (Chu et al., 2012).
