CXCL8 and acute liver failure: A study conducted by Teshima et al. [43] reported that transplantation of MSCs isolated from adipose tissue through the peripheral vein decreased the levels of IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, and interferon γ (pro-inflammatory cytokines) and increased the levels of IL-4 and IL-10, HGF, and vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-inflammatory cytokines) in an acute liver failure animal model, whereas transplantation through the splenic vein significantly increased the number of MSCs engrafted in the liver compared with transplantation via the peripheral vein.
