In pediatric brain tumors, kinome profiling by peptide array confirmed previously reported signaling pathway activity in Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR or ERBB1), Hepatocyte growth factor receptor (c-MET) and Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), associated these tumors with highly active Proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase (Src) family kinases and demonstrated corresponding treatment responses to Src kinase inhibitors (Sikkema et al. 2009), showing the applicability of this technique to identify potential therapeutic targets. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and brain neoplasm.
