A comparison of the proteomic data found significantly reduced levels of both UBC (polyubiquitin-C) and CALM5 (calmodulin-like protein 5) in vernix of infants who later developed atopic eczema versus vernix from infants who did not develop eczema, shown in Figure 2 (Holm et al., 2014).
