Similar to previous literature reports using various animal models of NAFLD (e.g., LDL receptor-deficient mouse, Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima fatty rats, mice fed a MCD diet, and mice fed a HFD), this study also demonstrated a decrease in accumulated hepatic lipid (-69%), together with a reduction in macrophage infiltration (-76%) [41, 44–46]. Here, LDLR is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
