AFP and trophoblastic neoplasm: The role of tumor markers in the diagnosis and choice of surgical approach of ovarian masses and OT in children is still controversial [43], while an elevation of β-HCG and αFP is highly suggestive of the presence of a trophoblastic tumor, and therefore, requires a deeper investigation, CEA and CA-125 can be elevated in both malignant and benign lesions, and some authors [44, 45] also have described increased tumor markers in children who experienced OT on otherwise normal ovaries.
