The spectrum of different diseases associated with ALDH2 deficiency and aldehyde toxicity is well covered by many recent reviews, and includes a higher risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease (Gross et al., 2015; Chen et al., 2014, 2016, 2019; Chang et al., 2017; Wang et al., 2021; Kimura et al., 2019; Zhao and Wang, 2015). This evidence concerns the gene ALDH2 and cancer.
