In line with this evidence, in the present study we investigated the chemosensitizing properties of β-caryophyllene and β-caryophyllene oxide in combination with sorafenib in human liver, biliary, and pancreatic cancer cells and the mechanisms, focusing on the interconnection between STAT3 cascade, involved in cell survival and growth, and ABC transporter function and expression. This evidence concerns the gene ABCG2 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
