Upon culturing cancer cells through the proliferation and attainment of spheroid structures with tumorigenic characteristics and the supplementation of TGF-β, the cancer cells were caused to disintegrate and alter their phenotype into spindle-shapes that show mesenchymal protein expression, including vimentin and N-cadherin, and a decreased epithelial protein expression of E-cadherin. This evidence concerns the gene CDH2 and cancer.
