Consequent to HFD feeding for 24 weeks, lipid content were markedly decreased in the livers of male MKP-2-deficient mice as compared with Mkp-2+/+, mice, suggesting that MKP-2 deficiency prevents the development of hepatic steatosis (Figure 5A, upper panel Mkp-2−/−, lower panel Mkp-2+/+). The gene discussed is DUSP4; the disease is fatty liver disease.
