The mineral contents of L. libyca aerial parts are rich in essential nutrients such as Na, Fe, Ca and K. L. libyca methanol extract showed notable antioxidant activity in the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay (DPPH) (77.33 TE/g), catalase assay (CAT) (95.24 mg TE/g) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) assay (180.06 mg eq. AG/g), with no cytotoxic effect on HCT116 (human colon cancer cell line) and HepG2 (human hepatoma) cells. This evidence concerns the gene CAT and hepatocellular carcinoma.
