The HBP, an accessory pathway of glycolysis, was upregulated in both the CH (Figure S3B) and HF phases (Figure 3B), as indicated by the increased expression of glutamine-fructose-6-phosphate transaminase 2 (GFPT2), the first and rate-limiting enzyme of the HBP, and UDP-N-acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase 1 (UAP1), the enzyme that generates the end product of HBP (UDP-N-acetylglucosamine [UDP-GlcNAc]). The gene discussed is GFPT2; the disease is hydrops fetalis.
