The aggrecan in the Lox+/C285F mutant is deposited asymmetrically, similar to what is seen in mice with severe Marfan syndrome [23] as well as in Eln+/- mice [43] where its location was thought to be impacted by differential mechanical forces, suggesting an attempt at a compensatory response to the elastic fiber destruction [23]. This evidence concerns the gene ELN and Marfan syndrome.
