Satisfyingly, the reduction in P2X7 sensitivity observed in CD4+ and CD8+ T cells from mice fed the HFC diet for 16 or 24 weeks showed a similar profile as that observed after ex vivo plasma membrane cholesterol enrichment using MBCD/Chol complexes, confirming that the effect of diet-induced obesity on T-cell sensitivity to eATP was mainly due to plasma membrane cholesterol enrichment. Here, P2RX7 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
